Former Senior Special Assistants/Special Assistants Drags Bauchi Government To Industrial Court Over Non Payment of their Severance Benefits

This may not be the best time for Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abubakar, as universalreporters247.com can confirm that Former Senior Special Assistants and Former Special Assistants under ex-Governor Yuguda has dragged the Bauchi State Government to an industrial court over the non-payment of their severance package.

As learnt by this medium, the severance benefits is over N1 billion.

The former Assistants who are over 1000 in number lamented that the Governor has promised to settle their severance benefits not more than six months when assumed office, however, 15 months after they are yet to receive their benefits.

The former Assistants according to their lawyer have no other option other than to seek legal redress and as such that accounted for the filling of a suit against the State government.

Speaking with this medium, the lawyer stated that case has been filed and that it has served the State government, according to him he said that the hearing is coming up certainly by next week.

It would be recalled that sometime in June, following unpaid arrears of allowances and benefits to former former councilors under Bauchi State Governors, Ahmed Mu’azu and Isa Yuguda, an Industrial Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, froze the accounts of Bauchi State government.

The suit prompted the freezing of government accounts by the court in response to the prayers of the former aides pending the settlement of the claims.
