Former Nasarawa Lawmaker, Supporters Join APC

The internal wrangling that played in the recent ward, Local Government and starts Congress of the chapter of Nasarawa state People’s Democratic Party is yielding result as, Hon Anthony Obande, a former member that represents Doma South Constituency defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress at his ward in Agbashi, Agbashi ward in Doma Local Government of the state.

 

The former and vocal lawmaker during his days presented a chunk of teeming supporters during the defection which draws people from near and far, It would be recalled that Hon. Obande pleaded with PDP supporters to forgive the erstwhile members of the House of Assembly both present and former for fielding Hon. Francis Orogu as an anointed candidate against the candidate of Barrister Yakubu Hassan, the former Assistant Organising Secretary of the party.

 

The aggrieved PDP who openly show his grievances right from the ward, Local Government and state congress of the party pulled a mammoth crowd out of the party, the mass movement witnessed heavyweight of the ruling party in Agbashi, the headquarters of Ekye Development Area.

 

It was revealed that the stakeholders meeting that held in Akwanga was a stalemate as the aggrieved party members meeting ended in deadlock, on the other end the reconciliation committee set up by the state chairman of z party, Orogu has a herculean task to accomplish.

 

No fewer than 100 dumped the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, this was coming at a time that Hon. Francis Orogu has assured the party that PDP will reclaim Nasarawa state come 2023.

 

He stated this during an interview with Journalists at Lion Gate, during the state congress in Keffi, the chairman said the only easiest thing for his party is to win Nasarawa state with a wider margin come to the 2023 election.

 

While receiving the defectors, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Honorable Musa Ibrahim disclosed that the inclusion of Doma-Akpanaja and Idadu- Agbashi Roads in the twenty twenty-one budget was a step in the right direction.

 

He averred that the roads if completed would not only promote commercial activities within the communities but would also enhance the development of the constituency and the mother  Local Government Area.

 

He welcomed the new decamped to the party.

 

Hon. Anthony Obande in his speech said he and his teeming supporters are joining the APC to add value to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

 

“Victory is assured with the mass exodus of my loyalist from our former party”.
