Chuks Ehirim, Ex-FCT NUJ Chairman Dies At 50

The immediate past chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Chuks Ehirim died on Thursday, June 16, at the Garki hospital in Abuja.

Chuks who served as FCT NUJ chairman up until 2015,  was born June 16, 1966. He was a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

His last port of professional duty was as Deputy Editor at Global Paragon news Magazine. He was a profilic reporter with TheNews magazine in the 80s. he became chairman of the NUJ FCT from the National Accord newspaper.

Secretary of the NUJ FCT, Mrs Ramat Salami, confirmed the report. She was so downcast she could not give details beyond the fact that “he died after a short illness.”

Cross sections of journalists have been sending condolences to the nation’s Fourth Estate for the great loss coming on the day he was supposed to be celebrating his 50th birthday anniversary. May his soul rest in peace.
