Flood: Bauchi State Government Inaugurates Assessment Committee

Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a high-powered Committee to assess the level of damage caused by flood across the twenty local government areas of the state.

 

This followed the widespread reports of the flood disaster caused by heavy downpours which claimed lives, destroyed Houses, properties, and farmlands.

 

Inaugurating the Committee in Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed who was represented by his Deputy Senator Baba Tela charged them to provide comprehensive reports of all the damages and recommend effective measures of preventing future occurrence.

 

Bala Mohammed said subcommittees have also been constituted to ensure a hitch-free disbursement of palliative materials to be secured from both the state and federal governments as well as donor agencies.

 

The Governor who described incidents of the incessant flood as devastating emphasized the need for timely submission of the report to allow the government to begin the implementation process.

 

The Committee is to be chaired by the state Deputy Governor Senator Baba Tela as Chairmen of all the Local Governments as well as representatives of relevant Ministries Departments and Agencies as members.
