Fire Destroys Female Section of Jos Central Mosque, Houses, Shops

A wild fire on Wednesday afternoon engulfed and destroyed  the Female section of  Jos Central also destroyed in the inferno was properties worth million.

An eye witness disclosed that four classrooms and the female section of the Central Mosque were raised down completely.

He said the inferno which started from a house behind the Mosque later spread across the nearby building and engulfed two other houses and many shops.

However, the state director of the JNI Aid group Alhaji Danjuma Khalid said the fire wouldn’t have caught off with the Mosque, “had it being some of the youths that trooped in have allowed men of the fire service to do their job as trained.

“According to him the Female side of the Mosque under renovation was completely burnt by the fire.

Men of the fire service as well as that of the JNI were seen busy trying to put off the fire with the aid of some people bringing water from nearby water wells.

It was gathered that the fire started at about 2:05 pm, and lasted till about 3:20pm, and had destroyed chairs, beds, carpets and many other properties worth millions of Naira.
