Federal University Of Wukari Student Killed By Suspected Cultists

There was panic, on Friday at Federal University Wukari (FUW) in Wukari LGA, Taraba state, following the death of a 200-level student, who was allegedly stabbed within the students’ villa by suspected cultists.

The student identified as Mark Shagari, of the biology science department, was on Thursday night stabbed by some alleged cultists and they went away with his phone.

Sources told Universal Reporters that Shagari who was 20 years old died after sustaining multiple knife injuries at about 8:00 pm opposite Atoshi students’ villa

Sources alleged that Shagari was stabbed while struggling with the suspected cultists who tried to snatch his phone.

“There are cult groups in the university that specialized in snatching expensive handsets and other valuables, they also engaged in raping.” A source said.

The source said immediately after the corpse was discovered a team of police detectives visited the scene and the corpse was immediately moved to Wukari General Hospital.

The Taraba State Police Spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman did not pick up his calls nor respond to text messages at the time of filing this report

However, the institution’s director of public relations, Ashu Agya confirmed the death of Shagari but did not say if he was killed by cult members.

Ms. Agya also confirmed that the school authority is working with the police to ascertain what actually transpired.

“The parents of the victim are already around we are presently in a security meeting to look at the matter,” she said.
