Federal Govt. To Prosecute illegal Firearms Handlers-PMB Vow

Irked over the continued clashes between Fulani/Farmers in the North-Central, President Muhammadu Buhari directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute persons in possession of illegal arms.

The President stated this during a one day visit to commission projects in Nasarawa state.

He assured the people of the north central and indeed all Nigerians that the Federal Government is working assiduously to ensure that peace is restore in the country.

Mr. President said the Federal government has deployed additional security agencies to all the affected areas to maintain law and order.

He buttressed that attacks by suspected herdsmen and other bandits will not be tolerated any longer by the Federal Government.

Appealing to all Nigerian to refrain from attacks, assuring that security agencies have standing instructions to arrest and prosecute any persons found with illegal firearms.

He used the occasion to condole and sympathies with Nigerians that lost their love during Fulani herders and Farmers and amongst other wanton disturbances.

The President maintained that Government will site Federal projects that will attract foreign investments to Nigeria, taking into cognizance the daily influx of people to the State from within and outside the country.

He however assured the people of Nasarawa state that all ongoing strategic projects, especially the power transmission station at Akurba and Federal Government roads network would be completed to further enhance the socio-economic development of Nasarawa State and the north central region.

Some of the projects commissioned include the multi billion naira Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Karu, a project initiated by the first executive governor, Abdullahi Adamu.

Other projects commissioned are Fire Service headquarters in the state capital, e-library, launching of the Pilot Scheme of the Community Health Influencers, Promoters and Services (CHIPS), National Programme at Kwandare- Lafia Local Government Area.

The President also commissioned the Comprehensive Special School a project conceived and completed by governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
