Federal Government Disburses N343, 758,500.00 Funds To 239 Health Facilities In Jigawa

The director of the Primary Health Care Service of Jigawa state, Doctor kabiru I Rahim Aliyu, has disclosed-this during a stakeholders’ meeting.

 

Kabiru said the objectives of the stakeholders’ meeting were to discuss vital issues relating to funds disbursed by the federal government to 239 selected facilities out of 279 hospitals in the state to enable each of the benefiting communities to take care of their hospitals.

 

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Alhaji Muazu Salisu Babura, said the main objective of the meeting was to make sure the funds disbursed to eighteen members of the committee are used judiciously to take care of all the facilities.

 

He explained further that they will do everything possible to see to the free delivery of health care to the vulnerable ones as the main target.

 

The Permanent Secretary said forty out of 279 hospitals didn’t meet the criteria that is why they were not included among the beneficiaries, he, therefore, appealed to local government chairmen to give their contributions that they can be incorporated to benefit.

 

He also called on stakeholders to make sure the money got to the target hospitals and ensure that the funds are being utilized properly.

 

He however advised the local government chairmen to make sure that all hospitals at their domain were used properly for the benefit of their people.

 

Speaking at the occasion the chairman of Jahun local government, Malam Magani Inuwa Jahun, called on the state ministry of health to establish discipline on anyone found misusing the fund given to any health care.

 

Jahun said if no measure is established to deal with the defaulters of the funds given to each health facility worker, he assured that the fund will not be used judiciously rather, it would be misused by some of the members selected to take care of it.

 

Also in his contribution, the District Head of Aujara, Alhaji Aminu Danmalam, said, if the government does not take note of such facilities the projects will not succeed-rather, it will fail, adding that, if we must succeed in this project then defaulters of funds must not go unpunished.

 

 

In his words, the Commissioner for Local Government,-Alhaji Kabiru Hassan Sugungun, had charged the local government chairman in the state to be more vigilant, as it is their responsibility to make sure the project does not fail.

 

The commissioner also said that any staff or member of the committee found wanting on the fund will be sacked out of the committee and ensure to take a serious measure.
