The Patriotic Christian Youths Of Nigeria, PCYN, has accused Bishop Joseph George Masin chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter of commercializing the Christian body, as he was accused of collecting N10 million from Labaran Maku, APGA Guber candidate.

In a statement signed by PCYN, it reads; “Our attention as the Patriotic Christian Youths of Nigeria (PCYN) has been drawn to the recent underhanded activity of Bishop Joseph George Masin the CAN Chairman of Nasarawa State who is running from one politician or the other, negotiating how much money he will get from them to endorse their candidature in the forthcoming general election, we are very much aware of the sum of Ten Million naira (10,000,000.) along with a 4-wheel drive the CAN Chairman collected from Hon Dr. Labaran Maku on the 8th day of January 2019,following which the CAN Chairman immediately summoned a Kangaroo meeting in the name of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) without the knowledge of all the CAN Executives in the State, No bloc leader was aware of the meeting, without even the Local Government CAN Chairmen in attendance. The news of the meeting came to us like in the dream but getting to the CAN Secretariat, venue of the Kangaroo meeting which was aimed at endorsing Hon Labaran Maku, we quickly intervened by drawing the attention of the CAN Chairman on the illegality of his action.”

PRESS STATEMENT BY PATRIOTIC CHRISTIAN YOUTHS OF NIGERIA (PCYN) ON THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (CAN) BY BISHOP JOSEPH GEORGE MASIN CAN CHAIRMAN, NASARAWA STATE. A CALL FOR CONCERN.

Let me commence this press statement by drawing the attention of all Christians in Nasarawa State to remain steadfast to our resolve as the Church of God in  Nasarawa State to carry out our various endeavours with the fear of God.

Our attention as the Patriotic Christian Youths of Nigeria (PCYN) has been drawn to the recent underhanded activity of Bishop Joseph George Masin the CAN Chairman of Nasarawa State who is running from one politician or the other, negotiating how much money he will get from them to endorse their candidature in the forthcoming general election, we are very much aware of the sum of Ten Million naira (10,000,000.) along with a 4-wheel drive the CAN Chairman collected from Hon Dr. The news of the meeting came to us like in the dream but getting to the CAN Secretariat, venue of the Kangaroo meeting which was aimed at endorsing Hon Labaran Maku, we quickly intervened by drawing the attention of the CAN Chairman on the illegality of his action.

I asked the CAN Chairman the following questions:

1- Where is the CAN Vice Chairman?

2- where is the CAN Secretary and his Assistant?

3- where is the CAN Treasurer?

4- where is the  CCN Bloc Leader?

5- where is the OAIC Bloc Leader?

6- where is the TEKAN/ECWA Bloc Leader?

7- where is the  PFN/CPFN Bloc Leader?

8-where is the CSN Bloc Leader?

None of these personalities were present at the meeting summoned by the CAN Chairman for the purpose of endorsing Hon. Labaran Maku on the 12th January, 2019 and that is why Bishop Masin’s endorsement plan of Maku was aborted.

In the structure of CAN, every zone has the right to take their decision on how to run the activity of their zone and so are Local Government Areas, provided they have not deviated from the  CAN Constitution 2004 as amended.

As Patriotic Christian Youth of Nigeria, we deem it necessary to make a statement on the happenings in Nasarawa state CAN in other to forestall the CAN Chairman from his despotic attitude of running CAN like his private estate.

We have noted with grave concern the recent press statement signed by Nasarawa  state CAN Chairman, Bishop Joseph George Masin which according to CAN Constitution is  a gross illegality of the highest order and we stand to condemn it and render it null and void. According to CAN Constitution, all public statements should be signed by CAN Secretary and or Director of Legal and Public affairs of CAN. Bishop Joseph George Masin has no right to issue any statement to the public, which was to pacify his paymaster and to justify the N10,000,0000  he collected from Hon. Labaran Maku. We believe sincerely that had Bishop Masin succeeded in his 12th January plan to endorse Hon Labaran Maku, No CAN official will release such statement in the public to condemn his endorsement.  It is believed that HE WHO WILL COMES TO EQUITY MUST COME WITH CLEAN HANDS. Bishop Masin’s hands are not clean in this regard.

POINTS OF CONCERN:

1- Bishop Masin should tell the Church in Nasarawa State which account he saved the money he collected from Hon. Labaran Maku in the name of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)

2- Bishop Masin should tell the Church why he chose to run CAN like his private enterprise. Sidelining all the CAN Structures in the State.

3- Bishop Masin should come out and tell the Church why he refused to call for a meeting to address the many glaring anomalies arising in Nasarawa CAN.

4- Bishop Masin should honestly explain to the Church in Nasarawa State why the Leadership of Vision 2019 has suddenly become CAN state Exco?

5- Bishop Masin should tell the Church why he called our well respected Christian Leaders and  Zonal CAN Leaders as thieves?

6- Bishop Masin should stop running CAN like a soldier, CAN is not a military regiment under his control.

7- Bishop Masin should again tell us reasons why he should not be impeached having found guilty of trying to commercialize our hallowed association, CAN.

We therefore call on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) National body and other true Christian stakeholders in and outside of Nasarawa State to intervene and tame Bishop Masin’s excesses before CAN is completely Commercialized. For a stitch in time saves nine.
