Excluding North-Central On Rebuilding Of IDPs By FG Is Disastrous Says Minority Leader Plateau Assembly

Minority leader of Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Daniel Dem has raised concern that federal government refusal to include North-central Nigeria which is ravaged by Boko Haram insurgent rebuilding exercise as worrisome.

He advised that the government should stop fighting the opposition but focus on how to rebuild the country and forget that his cabinet is the most corrupt system.

Speaking to our correspondent at his resident in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area, Hon Dem said the federal government is unfair abandoning the North Central when taken such sensitive decision.

Hon Dem who made a case for the inclusion of internally displaced persons (IDP) in the state among states devastated by sectarian crises.

He explained further that in Riyom Local Government Area the Fulani herders still graze into people farmland and some are bringing tractor to cultivate people farm.

Hon Daniel Dem condemned that from all indication the people of Mikang, Langtang and Kanke are not ready to support the issue grazing reserve which had degenerated into crisis with stakeholders of the councils.

He noted that majority of the people of Plateau state are not happy because it is a bill introduced  at the National Assembly on grazing reserve ,ranches by 8th Assembly .

Hon Dem described the bill as very controversial which has scale through a commission established to forceful acquired land from the natives and gradually force them as beggars.

He expressed happiness over Federal government decision to revamp back agriculture as the main stay of income generation and rearing of cows is part of the agriculture sector.

Stressing that those cows shouldn’t be allowed to be moving freely to everywhere and government is advised to give soft loan to farmers especially those into animals rearing to provide land for them, he said.

According to him, it is not for government to acquire land for ranches to private individuals looking at the challenges of crisis than displaced our people.

As a lawmaker ,we set up a committee which went round to dialogue and consult with people which led to fragile peace being experience ,its wasn’t issue of party or ethnicity but to protect Plateau state ,he stated.

Anybody who want to form their ranches to feed animals, we encourage ranches but would they Fulani want to be cage, he added.

He lamented that the people of North-central are also faced with the problem of land encroachment so is unfair not to involve them plan to build houses to displaced persons.

Hon Dem raised another critical issue that there are secret killings going in Riyom and Wase local governments the grazing reserve can escalate to another level if this attack will not stop.

He appealed for a coordinated dialogue between Fulani and farmers to come together and find solution to the attack.
