A 60 year old former Police Officer was, on Thursday, arraigned before a Bauchi State High Court for allegedly raping 2 minors, five and six year-olds.
The suspect, a retired Assistant superintendent of Police, Yusuf Ibrahim of Bakin Kura in Bauchi metropolis was accused of luring the two children in his shop and raped them.
The prosecution Counsel, Mohammad Adamu, said the offence for which the former Police Officer was being arraigned for was contrary to section 282 sub-section 1 E and punishable under section 283 of the Bauchi penal code.
Mohammad Adamu explained to the court that on 25th May this year, the accused lured the victims, Habiba Aliyu (6) and Hafsat Sabo (5) and gave them chewing gum after he raped them.
He said two out of the three witnesses have already made their submissions on the case.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Muazu Abubakar, has adjourned the case to 16th September for further hearing on the matter.
The accused Yusuf Ibrahim had earlier applied for bail but the court rejected his request.
