Ex-Jigawa Ex-Commissioner Dumps PDP, Joins APC With 10,000 Supporters

A former commissioner for Justice under the Dr. Sule Lamido’s led administration has moved dumped the PDP and joined the ruling party All Progressive Party with 10,000 followers.

Yakubu Ruba, a former Attorney General and Commission for Justice in Jigawa, Bar Yakubu Ruba who served under Lamido’s administration for four years announced his defection today at his residence in Dutse.

Ruba was one of the lawyers who has been battling in court to defend the People’s Democratic Party and Sule Lamido in court when the APC’s administration dragged them to court.

Until now Ruba was among the leading defense counsel to the former PDP commissioners that were dragged to court for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, disobeying the direction of the law with intent to cause public injury and theft contrary to section 97, 312, 123(A) and 287 of the final code.

He explained that his defection was due to personal reasons and the conduct of other party members to his supporters within the party.

“My defection was followed after wide consultation with my supporters across the Jigawa North East” He stated.

He said he committed his time and life to the progress of the party and protection of its members since the formation of the party believes that the party will provide a veritable platform for the realization of his political dreams.

He said due to what is happening in the party he realized that his political dream cannot be realized in the PDP the only option is to leave the party.

“In the situation where the leader of the party doesn’t have confidence in you and feel that you have that capacity the only option is to explore other revenues”.

Findings by our reporter revealed that Ruba’s defection may not be unconnected with party’s denial to allow his to contest in the just-concluded primary election.

It was further observed that the former commissioner seek to contest for the seat of Jigawa North East Senatorial ticket and was asked to step aside for the Ubali Shitu who recently moved to the party for APC and contest for House of representative.

It was also discovered that he was also stopped to contest for the House of Representative seat representing Hadejia, Kafin Hausa and Auyo by the leader of the party for what he described as an imposition.

Commenting the Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has said he is delighted to find himself again having to rejoice with another Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crossing over to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Badaru who described the former PDP bigwig as a big catch and a plus to the APC family, welcomed all the former PDP members, assuring them of proper treatment without discrimination.
