Emir Of Lafiagi Dies, Sulu-Gambari Mourns

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has commiserated with the Lafiagi Emirate Council over the death of its Emir, Alhaji Saadu Kawu-Haliru.

 

The royal father, in a condolence message issued by his Spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, on Thursday described the late Emir as a traditional ruler with high degree of tolerance .

 

According to Sulu-Gambari, the late Kawu-Haliru was an emir with outstanding passion for the development of his community.

 

He said: “I received the news of the demise of the 13th Emir of Lafiagi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Saadu Kawu Haliru OFR, with total submission to the will of almighty Allah.

 

“He was highly respected as a first class monarch and member of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs.”

 

The statement said the late emir contributed his best to the stability of the Traditional Council, growth and development of Lafiagi community and Edu Local Government Area as well as Kwara

 

The Emir added that the long reign of the late monarch on the throne was beneficial to the inhabitants of his Kingdom and Kwarans in general.

 

Sulu-Gambari prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-janatul firdaos.

 

The Emir condoled with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the loss of the traditional ruler and pray God to give his immediate and extended family the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

Alhaji Saadu Kawu-Haliru, who reigned for 46 years, died on Thursday at the age of 86.

 

A prominent indigene of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammad Kudu, who spoke with NAN, said the late monarch would be buried at Lafiagi on Friday by 2pm.

 

He said the Janaxah prayer for the late royal father would be led by the Chief lmam of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Jubril.
