Embattled Adamawa Assembly Speaker, Fintiri Declares Seat Of Three Lawmakers Vacant By Tom Garba,Yola

The embattled Speaker of  Adamawa state House of Assembly, Rt Hon  Ahmadu Fintiri, has declared the seat of three lawmakers vacant.

Fintiri declared the seats vacant at the Wednesday plenary of the House where he cited section 108 of the constitution pointing out that the affected members, Umar Abdulkarim (PDM-Nasarawo/Binyeri), Hamman Tukur (PDM-Jada/Mbulo) and Adamu Usman (APC-Toungo) where elected to the House under PDP but they defected to other parties to contest in the last general election.

Fintiri who also condemned his purported impeachment on Tuesday by nine lawmakers who sat at Government House Yola, had constituted a five man committee to investigate them and submit it report on Monday for necessary action.

In the same vein, the duo groups had a parallel seating today,  of which the  nine lawmakers sat at Government House conference hall to prosecute the “impeachment” of the speaker on Tuesday had also sat on Wednesday at the same Government House conference hall under the leadership of Jerry Kundisi (PDP-Gombi) as Speaker.

Kundisi described the actions taken by Fintiri as “illegal”, adding that his group would move their sitting to the House of Assembly complex on Monday.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Adamawa house of assembly complex.

It appeared the Kundisi led faction are losing grip of the battle over the supremacy of who becomes the speaker, of the state house of assembly as four out of the nine under his loyalty has denied been part of his impeachment saga and issued a press statement denying to be part of any impeachment process conducted outside the assembly complex.

Hon Ishag Bala Mohammed ,Member representing Yola North constituency red the press state saying that him and Hon Hassan Kaigama, Member representing Maiha, Hon Michael Zidon, Member representing Lamurde and Hon Abdulsallam Juggal, Member representing Shelleng constituency.

He said they have withdraw their names with their appended signature on any list impeaching Fintiri and supporting Jerry Kundisi as the new speaker

“We are not in attendance when the purported impeachment of Fintiri carried out, shows we are not part of the purported impeachment against our amiable speaker Umaru Fintri and his respected deputy speaker Kwaomati laori, our loyalty is to Hon Umaru Fintri as our substantive speaker”. Ishag said
