Election Petition Tribunal Upheld Senator Al-Makura’s Victory

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia has upheld the victory of former governor of the State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura as the dully winner of Nasarawa South senatorial district.

 

The sitting Judge, said the petitioners lack enough evidence to proof beyond reasonable doubt that the election was marred by irregularities ranging from ballot paper snatching.

 

While delivering the Judgement, Justice David Ugoh, Chairman of the Tribunal held that the petitioner failed to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010.

 

Ugoh said that parties must comply strictly with the provision of the Electoral Act.qnd for lack of merit; the judge dismissed the petition filed by former Senator, Suleiman Adokwe of the PDP.

 

Both Counsels to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, APC commended the Chairman of the panel for the detailed judgement.

 

The State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in the State, Aliyu Bello commended the Chairman of the panel for the brief and concise judgement affirming the victory of Al-Makura as the Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District.

 

Saying APC is ready to challenge the petitioner at the appeal court.
