The coordinator of students support for Honorable Chris Hassan for member House of Representatives in Jos-North /Bassa Federal constituency, Agun-suleh Atul has called on all students within the constituency to support, campaign and vote wisely in the forthcoming election.
Some group of students of Plateau State origin that gathered as a coalition to organize a political event tagged Unity Rally in Jos during the weekend, added their weight to calls for peaceful elections come March 28 and April 11, 2015; urging all students and other categories of youths to value their future by doing nothing that could jeopardize it.
The student groups which include the national student associations of Afizere, Amo, Anaguta, Berom, Buji, Jere, and Rukuba tribal groups in institutions of higher learning, emphasized at the event in the Plateau State capital, Jos, that it is often suicidal for youths who yield to the temptation which momentary gains present at the possible expense of their future.
The youth leaders, speaking under the auspices of Students Support for Honourable Chris Hassan, in honour of the immediate past Plateau State Commissioner of Works, Christopher Adukuchili Hassan who has the House of Representatives ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the March 28 National Assembly election and whom the youths described as being a former student leader who is “the most suitable candidate” for the Jos North-Bassa federal constituency which a couple of notable politicians of other major political parties are also going for.
Coordinator of the coalition of students associations, Pwajok Wass Paul, charged politicians to accept that their respective political ambitions could not be as important as their state or nation, and advised students to shun divisive tendencies “being propagated by some selfish politicians to raise tempers.”
