EFCC Storms Plateau Goes after Top Government Functionaries in Lalong’s Government, As Well As Former Commissioners under Jang

The Economic and Financial Crime commission (EFCC) has stormed Plateau state capital to arrest some top government functionaries suspected to be involved in embezzlement, money laundering and pilfering of State funds.

Our correspondent gathered that some top civil servants in the ministry and parastatals are alleged to be involved in the sharp practices include State Commissioners under the current government, as well as other Government appointees.

This medium learnt that for instance, funds for the State Universal Basic Education amounting to the tune of N2 billion which is supposed to be for payment of teachers’ salaries has been misappropriated.

Universalreporters247.com also learnt that the State executive Chairman of the Commission was also accused of allegedly keeping the money meant for teachers’ salaries in a fixed deposit to yield interest for him.

Also accused of misappropriation of funds is the State Accountant General who is accused of misappropriating funds from the State allocation, it is alleged that some funds that are meant for payment of Workers’ Salaries is alleged to be missing.

According to sources within the government the State Accountant General is alleged to have pilfered funds meant for his Local Government Area when he the Director of Personal Management of his LGA.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Universalreporters247.com has learnt that a former of Finance under Governor Jang is at the moment under interrogation at the EFCC office, where he is answering questions bothering on how the State money was spent during the last administration.

However this medium gathered former commissioners who served during the administration of ex-governor Jonah Jang are on run on getting information that their names were mentioned for arrest.
