EFCC Set To Re-Arraign Provost Of FSMLST, Sunday Etukudoh And Two Others On Fresh Count Charges

At the Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, Division, last Thursday, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the alleged N359 million fraud by Dr. Sunday Nkereuwem Etukudoh and four others was adjourned to the 11th Day of December, 2025, for re-arraignment and accelerated hearing.

Dr. Sunday O. Etukuduh,  Provost Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science Technology (FSMLST) Jos and four others  sometimes in 2014 obtained money to the tune of N359 million from the federal government under the pretext of organizing budget preparation training for the account /budget call officers of FSMLT, Jos and diverted same to personal use.

The offence is in contravention of section 8(a) of the  advance fee fraud and other related offenses of 2006 and  punishable under section  1(3) of the same act which the amount was allegedly defrauded.

However, when the case came up arraignment, the prosecuting counsel, Samuel  Okeleke told the court he has amended application dated 29th April, 2024 ,then the 2nd defendant (Accountant FSMLT)  was critically sick only  Ernest Domtoe the 3rd defendant were in court.

You could recall that, the  4th and 5th defendants were discharged an acquitted  as contractors and counsel to the 2nd defendant prayed for the court to strike out and find a peaceful resolution to enable him bring his client to court, when argued by the prosecuting counsel for  absence of the 2nd defendant in court. 

Dr Sunday Etukudoh was employed since 1978 were he rose to the rank of Federal School of Medical laboratory Science Technology in 2003 update ,as the provost of the college  he remained as a live provost of the college.

The counsel of the first defendant, Barr. Uche Mgbemena admitted that the prosecutor application was received on the 17th June, 2025 as he confirmed.

He also objected to the amended charge of the EFCC which led to the reversal of the prosecuting counsel.

The prosecuting counsel sought  the court  order to strike out the second count charge and allow the first count to stand for accelerating hearing because the matter is over 10 years delay in obtaining justice.

Counsel for the 3rd defendant Barr. Bulus Danboyi also confirmed receiving the prosecuting counsel amended charge on the 19th June, 2025 ,stressing that his client health condition is deteriorating and needed urgent medication  .

According to Uche the first defendant oppose to the amended charge specifically 2,11,12,13 , 14 and 15 contents  of 2nd defendant  were including the other so owning to the fresh application.

The prosecuting counsel asked the court to grant him shortest time for accelerating hearing on the case.

The presiding judge, Honourable justice S. P. Gang adjourned to the 11th Day of December, 2025 for arraignment and accelerating hearing.
