Bldr. Alvary Andrew Durkwa, a former aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has withdrawn from the party’s primary election, citing alleged irregularities and manipulation in the process.
Durkwa announced his withdrawal in a statement issued on Saturday, May 23, 2026, following what he described as extensive consultations with his family, political associates, supporters, and key stakeholders.
The former aspirant expressed appreciation to his loyal supporters for their commitment and encouragement throughout the contest but said the conduct of the primary election did not reflect democratic standards expected within the party.
According to him, the exercise was marred by what he termed “glaring irregularities, lack of fairness, manipulation, and result doctoring” allegedly carried out by some party officials.
“It is deeply unfortunate that the process, which ought to reflect democratic principles, transparency, and equal opportunities for all aspirants, was marred by acts of result doctoring and undue interference by certain party officials,” Durkwa stated.
He added that he joined the race with confidence in a free, fair, and credible process but could no longer continue in an election that, in his view, undermined the will of party members and supporters.
Durkwa further announced his exit from the ADC, while reaffirming his commitment to the unity, progress, and development of the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency. He urged his supporters to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding as he considers his next political move.
The former aspirant also thanked youth groups, women groups, community leaders, and supporters who stood by him throughout the campaign, assuring them that he would communicate his next line of action in due course.
