Christian Youths for Good Governance ( CYGG) North East region has warned the National Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN) Mr. Daramola Joseph, to desist from acts that are capable of reducing the association to a political party.
While addressing journalists on Friday in Gombe, the spokeman of the group Mr. Joseph Bitrus,said that the suspension of the Gombe branch chairman of CAN without Fair hearing has given the association a bad image.
” Pantami is an indigene of Gombe ,so if he is elevated and honour what is wrong for CAN to congratulate him?. Daramola’s action did not speak well of this honourable organization ,it is time the leadership of the association call Daramola to order. He was involved in official cars purchase scandal which is a criminal case,but he was forgiving because Jesus Christ preach forgiveness for one another,” he said.
Bitrus pointed out that if the national secretary fail to reverse the suspension and write apology letter to the Gombe branch chairman they should prepare for war in the association.
” Daramola can’t use his office to settle personal differences with people, we learnt from the grapevine that he wanted the chairman to get a contract for him from the Gombe state government, but the chairman told him that it is not part of the first CAN assignment to beg for contracts and Daramola was angry and vowed to deal with the chairman. Who are members of the panel that was constituted to investigate the matter,? he query,
Bitrus who fumed during the press conference asked,” why the secretary that signed the congratulation letter was exempted from the suspension, it is clear that Daramola has personal issue with the Gombe CAN chairman”.
He said that to avoid parallel CAN leadership in Gombe the unlawful and evil tailor suspension should be reverse with immediate effect or CAN will be face with rebellious actions from the group.
” Is Daramola trying to say that Christians hate Muslims, his actions has unhealthy implications on the image of CAN and it must be tackle on time,” he maintained.
