The All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in 2019 General Elections, Alh Haruna  Maitala has debunked accusation linking him to the Plateau crisis as he described their insinuations as baseless.

Maitala stated in an interview granted to this Medium on Wednesday at the Plateau state council of NUJ, Jos.

He said that allegation is a total lie that was fabricated against him to tarnish his reputation, “I am Nigerian that has traveled widely, so I don’t think they are saying the truth about me.

Maitala urged Nigerians to be fair to all, we can’t force peace on the people as he said; “I have lived in Dadin Kowa in Jos South Local Government Area but there is no single record of any fight, so how can someone alleged that the crisis in Bassa I have a hand in it.

According to him; “politics is all about lobbying if given the mandate I have vowed to focus more on the educational sector of Jos North/Bassa constituency so as to improve the Living standard of an average person and initiate programs that can impact positively in the state.

He expressed the desire to transform the people’s wellbeing toward promoting peaceful coexistence among Muslims and Christians, “once that is done we can coexist and again I shall be fair to all by giving them equal opportunity.

“Though I am a Fulani I have included Berom, and close associate and nobody has defended Plateau state outside like me and I have evidence to show you I have done a lot to encourage unity amongst us.

Maitala said he saw a better Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari if given the second chance come 2019 adding that Governor Simon Lalong has brought relative peace in Plateau state, “so let come together and proffer solution and move forward rather than to continue to promote hatred, religious bigot that has cost us our hard-earned peace.

“If given the mandate no more issue of boreholes but the real business of scholarship, training the youths on skills acquisition and women empowerment programs to improve them,” he said.
