Doma LGC Chairman Seek Opinion On How To Spend Recovered N53m Looted Funds From EFCC

The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Council,Honorable Jonathan Okuba Addra has confirmed that he  received the sum of  N53 million from the anti graft agency,The Economic and Financial Crime Commission,the EFCC.

He said the money recovered was under the Chairmanship of his predecessor..

The Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra  made the disclosure on Saturday during a Town Hall Meeting held at the Doma Local Government Area headquarters in collaboration with the NYCN Doma LGA Chapter in commemoration of this year’s Youth day celebration worldwide.

He said the fund was recovered loot and appealed to stakeholders to advise on its transparent use for community benefit.

“The council in partnership with the National Youth Council of Nigeria  is committed to ensuring that the recovered loot was spend judiciously”.

 “Money works for the people. We want your input on the best way to deploy it for infrastructure, education, and security,” the Chairman

averred.

The meeting brought together traditional, youth, and community leaders to discuss peace, unity, and development of Doma LGA.

The event was chaired by Dr. Mustapha A. Galadima, with representatives of the Andoma of Doma in attendance.

The NYCN Doma Chairman, Comrade Zubairu Ibrahim Yusuf, hosted the gathering, while Hon. Dahiru Ibrahim Ojiri presented a paper on Peace, Unity, and Development of Doma,

Saying the International day for Youth nationwide was celebrated on the ,48twelve of August of every year but the one Doma Local Government  of Nasarawa State was shifted today Saturday,twenty twenty six.

Participants agreed on the need to avoid divisive actions and sustain peace across the LGA. They also called for more youth engagement, skills training, and job opportunities.

In recognition of his leadership, Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra was presented with an Award of Excellence during the event. Other notable indigene of Doma also received recognition awards.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure, education, and security, and pledged to sustain regular town hall meetings for citizen input.

There the need to involved citizens in decision-making, we are raising the bar for participation, transparency, and accountability in Doma LGA,”the Council insisted.

Stakeholders at the meeting expressed support for the Chairman’s development agenda and commended the open discussion on the recovered funds.

The meeting ended with renewed calls for unity and collective effort to advance Doma LGA.

In his paper,Peace ,Unity And The Development Doma Community,The immediate past Special Adviser on Education to Governor Abdullahi Sule,Dahiru Ibrahim remind the people of Doma to eschew youth thuggery and social vices,

Saying religious and political differences should not be seen as a barrier to Doma Local Government.Adding that genuine peace and Unity in Doma Chiefdom is very important,Going back memory lane when decisions of Doma were taking at the palace.

He insisted that there should be core Peace and Unity in the Development agenda of Doma Local Government,He also versus of the Holy Quran and Bible on the need to leave peacefully as an entity,Saying Unity in every nation cannot be challenged from any external forces,He ensued that strength should not be our weaken point but should be a source of our difference. He said youth should be spiritually sound.

Dahiru Ibrahim averred that the development of Doma people begins with the people of Doma,Adding that the struggle of our past heroes shall never be in vain.

“In those days meeting are held and people indulge in Community work instead of waiting for the Local Government to do the work,he called on youth to distance themselves from insulting elders or Local Government Chairman on social media”.He however urged youth to take note of political thuggery,vandalization of electric transformer,Noting that the traditional institution should be a non political platform to create a culture of political culture as well empower the younger generation.

The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area,Honorable Jonathan Okuba Addra during his remarks appreciate the paper presented by Dahiru Ibrahim,the Chairman lauded the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

He said Doma Community will move forward,He opined that Doma received the sum of N53m from the anti graft agency,The EFCC,he said the mainstay of his administration was community development by constructing a Police station at Akpanaja,renovation of the official resident of the Local Government abandoned for years,renovation of Primary Health Cares,sinking of ten boreholes across the ten electoral wards.

On the issue of security of lives and properties,the Chairman averred that procured 20 motorcycles and shared them to security operatives as well,establishment of military formation at Doka electoral ward.

Adding that he purchased anti snake venom for farmers.The Executive Chairman revealed that he facilitates the employment of people to State Fire Service, Procurement of vehicle to some of his aides,20 women were given N50,000 each as well 200 women given N100,000 each especially Fisher women and amongst other interventions.

The Scribe to the Andoma of Doma,Alhaji Musa Usman Addra said he issue of herders ,farmers skirmishes has been with us over time,he reeled out some issues affecting Doma Local Government are issue of kidnapping in Doma Local Government Area of the State.

The Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly,Honorable Mohammed Adamu Oyanki that the thought of the elders and the youth varies,he said he will use 1m to change the location of an existing transformer which passes through serious vandalization.

The meeting also resolved that the Local Government should give impetus to the naming of street after illustrious sons and daughters of Doma Local Government.

That the Council should accord impetus to Community service.

Transparency and Accountability should be our watchword.

The Local Government should strengthened ties  with the traditional Council .

Adherence  to the role of law.

Constitute an Advisory committee.

The Local  Government should adopt inclusive Government
