Doma Legislative Council Summon Education Secretary, DPM Over Recruitment of Primary School Teachers

The Doma Local Local Government Legislative Council has summoned the Education Secretary of the Local Government Area and the Director of Personnel Management to appear on Thursday this week over the ongoing recruitment of primary school teachers in public schools.

Hon.Sule Adamu, The Councilor representing Agbashi electoral ward while contributing under a matter of public interest maintained that as a member of Doma Legislative Council as well been the Chairman of the committee on Education is not aware of what is happening with the ongoing recruitment exercise at the cradle of education.

“There is the need for us as people to invite the Education Secretary to appear before this house to explain to us the ongoing development”.

Hon.Jonah Ogah, Hon Councilor representing Galadima electoral ward seconded the motion.

The Councilor representing Madaki electoral ward, Hon.Ibrahim Aliyu in his submission lauded the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, and his Deputy, Dr.Emmanuel Akane for earmarking huge amounts of money for projects.

This motion was overwhelmingly supported by the majority of the Councilors.

Hon Ibrahim Aliyu moved for the adjournment to Thursday this week and was seconded by Hon. Idris Mohammed, Councillor representing Alagye electoral ward.

It could be recalled that The State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has approved the employment of 4000 primary school teachers in the State.

The State Commissioner of Education, Hon John Mamman gave the hint during last year’s World Teachers Day, a celebration held at Government Science School, Lafia.

He said the approval to recruit more primary school teachers was meant to close the gap of teachers deficit.
