The National Chairman of Persons living with visually impaired in Nigeria who doubles as All Progressive Congress (APC) ,Mallam Yerima Suleiman Ibrahim has decried the high rate of unemployed members of persons living with disabilities and seek for government intervention to assist their members.
Speaking at the courtesy called on the State Commissioner for Transport, Plateau State, Mallam Mohammed Naziff by seeking employment opportunity to their colleagues who are certificates holder.
Ibrahim gave this request to the APC stalwart at his resident in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state on Thursday.
He reiterated that the conditions of persons living with disabled in Nigeria require prompt intervention were most of the members who overwhelmingly supported the party are yet to be consider in the state employment opportunity pushing some of them into begging to survive.
According the spokesperson, persons with disabilities are more vulnerable to the current economic challenges were the resorted to streets begging and some of their members are overrun on highway in search of their daily meal.
We appeal to the present government in the state and national level to consider the plight of the persons living with disabilities as they called on Lalong empower those who are living disabilities in the civil service .
While responding to the visit, the commissioner for Transport, Mallam Naziff Mohammed commends the group for identifying with him and he also thanked them.
He stressed that the APC as a political party identify with people with disabilities but says the country is going through faces of economic challenges were the President Muhammadu Buhari is working hard to reposition the dwindling situation.
Hon Mohammed told them the regime is working towards improving the living standard of an average citizen because the situation is so critical when this administration came on board.
He maintained that the opposition is putting heads together to distract the government but the God is given wisdom to the APC leader to transform the country to the next level.
