Director Culture Hails Outgoing Commissioner For Exhibiting Maturity

During the handing over ceremony by the outgoing Commissioners in some Ministries but it was a different ball game as the Director Culture in the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Glorie Ashikeni hailed the outgoing Commissioner, Comrade Dogo Shammah for exhibiting maturity in handling the affairs of the Ministry.

 

She disclosed this during the handing over of affairs of the Ministry to the Permanent Secretary, Barrister Yusuf Musa, she narrated an episode that led to a disagreement between her and the Commissioner whom she described as an easy-going person.

 

The Director dedicates all the success stories of the Ministry especially the performance of the Isa Kungar cultural troupe to the superlative Leadership style of Dogo Shammah.

 

The Permanent Secretary in his speech explained that the outgoing Commissioner deserved more than what is happening at the Ministry today

 

“What we are seeing and witnessing now is a story of Dogo Shammah going at halftime, I’m expecting his coming back to continue from where he stopped”.

 

The outgoing Commissioner buttressed that his appointment in Governor Abdullahi Sule’s Government is a rare opportunity to define him as a person.

 

The outgoing Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Comrade Dogo Shammah said that Governor Abdullahi Siule redefined him as a person and also expanded his horizon about governance.

 

Shammah averred that he learn more to be transparent, honest, and hard-working in the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

 

He further explained that when he assumed the mantle of leadership of the ministry in November 2019, he met the ministry with 132 staff strength and 43 casual Staff and could not do anything to increase the number of staff in the ministry due to incapacitation to employ more workers.

 

The outgoing Commissioner said he made a giant stride in boosting the morale of the existing staff of the ministry through many interventions as allowance of casual workers was increased from N7000 to, N10,000 monthly.

 

Comrade Dogo Shammah further explained that since he assumed the mantle of leadership of the ministry, they didn’t experience a single case of Journalists boycotting Government activities, ” This has indeed, shown to all, the kind of cordiality exists between the media and the Government in the state.”.

 

He said they haven’t for once left Journalists in the dark with regards to Government actions, the issuance of press statements, to keep Journalists abreast of what is happening within the Government circle was something that could at best be habitual of the ministry.

 

Directors commended Comrade Dogo Shammah for a job well done and appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to reconsider him when forming the new cabinet

 

The staff of the Ministry, also appealed to the Governor to re- appoints Dogo Shammah as Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, saying his reappointment would enable him to complete the good work he started.
