The Plateau State House of Assembly has denied having any communication from the State Police Command ordering the arrest of its Honourable Member, Ibrahim Baba Hassan.
Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Peter Azi while responding to our correspondent on a telephone chat said; “there was no any letter or order of arrest on Honourable Baba Hassan.”
“Do the reporter knows what reading a letter on the floor means,” the Speaker said.
Also responding the House Committee Chairman on Information Honourable Muhammed Abubakar Balo, refuted the information yesterday in telephone chat.
The Assembly in a swift reaction to a national daily publication, the Daily Times Newspapers, which has purportedly reported that; “Plateau Police issues arrest warrant on lawmaker,” and also reported that the order was read to the legislators on the floor of the House.
According to the House there was no time when the alleged, “order of arrest was said to have been read at plenary as mischievously reported by the newspaper.”
Honourable Balo said the House plenary did not receive any communication of that effect from the Police talk less of the having it read on the floor by the Honourable Speaker of the House.
He said: “The report was far fetched from the truth, it was mischievously, ill conceived and the general public should discard it in its totality.”
“We condemned in its totality the false report of some media men,” he added.
Reacting to the said order if arrest State Public Relation Officer of the Police, DSP Abu Emmanuel, said he is not aware of any warrant of arrest, “but give me some times to investigate.”
Our correspondent reports that the University of Jos, has told the Plateau State command of the Nigeria Police that the certificate of the former deputy speaker of the State house of assembly Honourable Ibrahim Baba Hassan, was genuine.
The University said in its letter of response signed by its registrar Jilli Dandam, to that of the Police seeking to know whether the certificate was forged or not.
Closed sources confided that the Nigeria Police was investigating the genuineness or otherwise of Honourable Hassan’s diploma certificate as a result of a petition writing to the Inspector General of Police by Alhaji Jamilu Baba challenging the educational qualification of the legislator.
According to the letter dated 25-02-2016, the legislator has completed his course of studies by; “our record.”
“From our record Ibrahim Baba Hassan with Matriculation Number UJ/DBA/93/0696 enrolled into the University Of Jos during 1993/1994 Academic Session and completed the prescribed Academic Session Successfully in 1995/1996 Academic Session and was awarded the Diploma in Business Administration,” the letter read in parts.
