DG Nigerian Institute Of Mining And Geosciences Enmeshes In Corruption And Money Scandal

Allegations of money laundering is at the moment rocking the Nigerian Institute of Mining and Geosciences in Jos. Universalrepoters247.com learnt that the  Joint Research and Allied Unions (JORAISU) ,in conjunction with Nigerian Institute of Mining &Geosciences ,Jos Branch has alleged  victimization ,harassment and nepotism being melted on staff by the Actig Director /CEO, Engineer (Dr)  Umar S. Bamalli .

During its protest at the entrance gate of the Institute of Geosciences and Mining office, the Chairman NASU, Comrade John Gyang and Chairman SSAUTHRIAL -NIMG, Comrade Ogunsanya R ,Mintlm accused Engr ,Dr Bamalli of running the institute with junior officers as heads of departments just to enhance his one man management style.

The aggrieved workers blamed the director for completely resorting to bringing staff on illegal transfers of service from other agencies /parastatals under the MMSD to truncate or block the growth of existing staff, much in contravention to the extant circular halting transfer of service.

He added that the circular FCSC/CHMN/Vol17 /36 of public service rule on transfer of service, availability of vacancy ,advertisements ,interview and recruitment before transfer of service becomes valid.

The two union leadership, called on federal Government to relieve Engr Dr Umar Bamalli of his position as the Director General of NIMG for his incompetency and maladministration and be replaced with a qualified, experienced and more competent person.

The Honourable minister should kindly use his good office to facilitate early passage of the enabling law for the institute to enable NIMG function as a true training and research institute.

They appealed that investigation be conducted on all the petitions and allegations of corruption leveled against Engr. Bamalli and appropriate sanctions melted out to serve as deterrent to any new leader coming in.

They protested against protracted excesses, corrupt practices, incompetence, intimidation, highhandedness, vindictiveness and religious and ethnic bigotry that have characterized Dr Bamalli leadership since he took over leadership of NIMG.

They group alleged that the institute has been operating sharp practices when the Acting DG turned the organization  into tribal and religious affairs where he squandered public funds without proper record as if that is his private property.

They accuse of wrecking four vehicles belonging to the institute within the four years he has been on, as they also accused him of succeeded in chasing away senior experienced management staff to fast track his ambition.

According to the statement, the DG has succeeded in turning the institute into life threatening as well poses serious danger to students and staff.

It was gathered he has turned Abuja office to his personal use, as he uses Jos office only whenever he wants to hijack the overheads all to himself alone.

While contacted on phone for him to response on the allegations, Dr Umar Bamalli declined to make any comment; he stated that the minister is aware of the development in Jos branch office of NIMG.

“I don’t want to comment now please,” he said.
