The traditional ruler said though some peace is gradually coming into the community following the peace moves by the various leaders in the area, it had been under siege since 2014, leading to excommunication of some persons from the community.

Speaking through the palace spokesman, Prince Kingsley Iliromah, the monarch said I know the governor is aware of the crisis in the community, I want him to try all he could to bring peace to Ibrede and we, as a community, are strongly behind him. This is because any community where there is no peace, there won’t be development. He should therefore help to return lasting peace to Ibrede Community”.

Though he acknowledged that there has been some level of peace in the area following series of peace meetings which were orchestrated by the Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Nkechi Chukwurah and other eminent sons of the area, the community needed lasting peace that could attract development.

He said most meetings in the past had ended with fighting and quarrels, but the intervention of the local government chairman was a good one as both warring factions were ready to sheath their swords and embrace peace.

The monarch who commended the governor over the appointment of his younger brother, Jerry Iliromah, as a Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, said the governor has good intention for the people of Delta State considering his programmes for the development of the state.

The traditional ruler said the appointment of Jerry was a good one for both the traditional stool and the entire Ibrede community, a development which he said indicated the governor’s love for the community and desire for its growth and development.

He added that the governor has a good mind for the people of the state, saying “as a grassroot man, he knows what the people want. With him, everything is going to be okay for Delta State people. He is going put many things right that have gone wrong in this state. He is going to bring the state back to shape and will meet the need of all Deltans”.

The monarch who also commended Hon. Friday Osanebi, Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, and Nkechi Chukwurah, Chairman of Ndokwa East council area, said the ongoing youth training at the Songhai Delta was a fulfillment of his campaign promises to Deltans where he said he would bring prosperity to all Deltans, noting that that is what he is doing now through his youth empowerment programme.
