Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia Offers Post Graduate Training On Family Medicine, Surgery And Obstetrics

The Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia Dr. Yakubu Ahmed Ashuku has unveiled the recent successes recorded in the hospital to include the introduction of Post Graduate Training in Family Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics respectively.

The CMD averred that the introduction of Post Graduate Training has come a long way in halving the shortage of doctors in the specialist hospital over the years.

Adding that DASH has over 20 consultants as against 5 consultants in recent years, Dr. Ashuku has said.

“Now we have 20 consultants in different specialty but not like before that we have only 5 consultants.

“With the introduction of Post Graduate Training the hospital succeeded in Training 6 doctors on Family Medicine, 8 doctors on Obstetrics and 4 doctors under the Surgery Departments”.

The Chief Medical Director however listed some of the nagging issues to include shortage of manpower, Infrastructure and crowd control as a major constraint.

Dr. Yakubu Ahmed Ashuku commended Journalists for embarking on investigative reporting, saying the press spur the management of DASH to do more, commending the press for doing a good job.

He congratulates the new leadership of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists under the headship of Comrade Dogo Shammah.

The CMD attributed the successes recorded to the chief executive, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for providing an enabling environment.

The chairman, Comrade Dogo Shammah appreciated the management for the friendly working relationship and promised to keep the tempo.

“is no longer news that development thrive under your leader since you assume office in April, 2010.”

“Before your appointments we are all living witness that there was mass exodus of doctors but is now a paradigm shift”.
