The Chairman of Christian Youth in Politics Initiative , Plateau State Chapter Mr Sam Chris Mafuyai has accused the member representing Jos North /Bassa Federal Constituency of jettisoning the agreement reached with the stakeholders on his completion of the Bassa LGA tenure after the demised of the member representing them died in a ghastly motor accident.
Chris in an interview with this medium in Jos North LGA says the youths have suffered a lot of setbacks, especially in the area of governance which they’ve said.
He expressed worries about the youth in politics especially as it affects the people of Jos North /Bassa LGAs and also the entire state.
Chris advised the youths to carefully make the choice of credible members for any elective position in Nigeria rather than insisting on the youths in leadership.
He charged them to emulate the style of Hon Jonathan Dabo, Hon Lumumba Adah Adeh, and Hon Aminu Zang, who have lost elections, many times, yet have been calling on their supporters to remain calm for the interest of the state.
Mr Sam Chris complained bitterly in the way and manner they saying that youth are the leaders of tomorrow, but what we are seeing today is different from what they’re saying and then we now came on board and decide that we want a situation where if given a person that above 60 years and can still manage us well is fine but it is sad that youth jettisoned their agreement.
He decried that for a very long time they have been ruled by people who are dictators, we have been suffering for some time now so we expect that the narrative must be changed.
Chris accused the member representing Jos North , Bassa that he appealed to the youth to support his candidature for just one year and six months but he came back again threatening us.
He expressed shock that he came back and that nobody would stop him from purchasing a nomination form to vie for the seat after reaching an agreement for just a period of time.
Sam Chris lamented that Hon Jonathan Dabo won the just concluded elections, but was denied the seat and the tribunal ordered for a fresh election which we all believed he clinch the seat.
The CYIP also endorsed Hon Aminu Zang for the position of Jos North /Bassa Federal constituency and the Hon Lumumba Adah Adeh for a senate seat in the forthcoming general elections.
He gave their reasons that they have contributed immensely to the development of politics in Jos North /Bassa LGAs even when they lose elections by promoting peaceful coexistence amongst all a sundry.
Mr Sam Chris challenges the CYIP to always ensure that their vote counts and that they support people of integrity in whatever field of human endeavor.
