Crisis Rocks Bauchi Assembly, As Members Begin Moves To Impeach Speaker

There are strong indications that Bauchi State Assembly Members has allegedly begun moves to impeach the Speaker Hon. Kawu Shehu Damina.

This according to the source who crave for anonymity said may be unconnected to the feud Between Governor Abubakar of Bauchi State and the National Assembly Members from Bauchi

It would be recalled that the National Assembly members from Bauchi had in different media and political fora criticized Abubakar for running exclusive government that does not have focus to rescue people from the purpose it was voted into power.

In the same vain, the governor had accused them of demanding houses for themselves in Abuja and exotic cars which he said are responsible for their political feud.

A member of the House who did not want his name in print told newsmen Tuesday that there is a desperate move to impeach the Speaker Damina especially those from the faction of National Assembly members from Bauchi to allegedly  give them a change to dethrone Abubakar in a similar circumstance.

According to the member, several meetings were said to have been held in Saudi-Arabia kingdom during last Hajj operation by the faction loyal to perfect the impeachment saga.

It was learnt that the Speaker’s l sin may be unconnected to his allege loyalty to the executive arm of the Government, the interest of his members as well as several calls to probe the governor were not entertained by the Speaker.

When this medium visited the State Assembly Complex along Gombe road to verify the impeachment move against the Speaker, it was discovered the members are still on recess and are expected to resume next week 18th October, 2016, but it was gathered that the embattled Speaker is holding meeting with members loyal to him at his residence.

A source privy to the meeting told newsmen that, they are perfecting ways on how to prevent the impeachment saga on resumption from recess with the pressure mounted by the loyalist of the National Assembly members.

The source added that none of the members loyal to the NASS members was present as a measure to neutralize the impeachment move.

It was also gathered that the NASS members are allegedly not leaving any stone unturned to dethrone Abubakar to sworn-in his deputy as governor.

Speaking to Lamara Chinade, the director information, Bauchi state house of assembly, debunked the alleged impeachment move and described it as a mere speculation with a view to divert people attention from the truth.

He urged the public to disregard unconfirmed information linking the members of planning to impeach the Speaker and call for the support of the government.
