Crisis looms within the Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) following the fallout of the just-concluded Congress in Abuja as some of the aspirants are alleging one of the Governorship aspirants is plotting to manipulate the forthcoming primaries of the party.
The aftermath of the APC convention had created fear and panic among some APC aspirants with the emergence of the former Commissioner of Land & Survey, Barr. Festus Fuanter as the North-Central bloc representative, whom they alleged was planted at the headquarters.
However, political pundits raised condemnation over the plan orchestrated by the Former Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, who is alleged of being used by the Governor’s wife to solicit consensus for the National Deputy Secretary seat to pave the way for his smooth ride to governorship seat ambition in 2023.
This medium gathered that in APC alone, there are about 25 aspirants vying for the seat of a governorship race to little Rayfield Government House.
Some of the aspirants who are also eyeing the seat are raising concerns that the nomination of Barr. Festus Fuanter as the sole candidate of APC didn’t go down for the seat of APC National Deputy Secretary.
They alleged that ideas were not that of Governor Simon Bako Lalong but the plot by Hon . Nentawe Yilwatda to edge other aspirants.
According to them, they have worked tirelessly to ensure that APC clinches the governorship seat, but now they’re seeing a fresh plan to unseat them and bring in an unpopular candidate for governor in 2023.
The aggrieved members of APC, some of them are aspirants for the race are complaining that if this ugly development happened they would work against the party in 2023.
It was gathered that the wife of governor Simon Bako Lalong was alleged to be fronting Hon. Nentawe Yilwatda for governor, which didn’t go down well with many stakeholders in Ngas land, who also alleged it was the same imposition on the case of the chairman of the council in Kanke LGA.
Besides, some of the Ngas expressed sadness that the Chairman who came 5th in the primaries suddenly emerged which to them is impunity and imposition that is now witnessed in APC.
Reacting to the allegations, Barr.Festus Fuanter refuted that as an APC stalwart he has the right to contest any election under the platform of APC.
He said, I’m not surprised by the political detractors, but I will advise them to bring a sellable candidate instance of turning to cheap blackmail.
Barr.Festus explained further that he is not representing Plateau State alone, but he oversees the entire North-Central zone, so anyone that is thinking of linking him with Hon .Nentawe Yilwatda is not true, but they’re just planning mischief.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong has demonstrated his pragmatic leadership style in the just concluded Jos North /Bassa Federal constituency bye-election which he allowed the people’s choice to prevail.
The Governor didn’t temper with the outcome of the bye-election, and Lalong categorically emphasized that let the people elect a leader of their own.
Fuanter emphasized that there is no anointed candidate for the governorship race in 2023, so Mr Governor explained himself clearly to all aspirants vying for the seat, so I urge them to stop linking me with the state politics.
