Court Adjourns Ex-JAMB Registrar Ojerinde, Children’s Corruption Trial To April 30

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday adjourned the trial of former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dibu Ojerinde, to April 30 over alleged official corruption and abuse of office.

The matter, which was slated for hearing before Justice Mohammed Umar, did not proceed due to the judge’s absence.

The court was informed that Justice Umar was engaged in another official assignment, prompting the adjournment.

Ojerinde is being tried alongside four of his children — Mary, Olumide, Adebayo and Oluwaseun Ojerinde — as well as six companies allegedly linked to him.

The companies include Doyin Ogbohi Petroleum Limited, Cheng Marbles Limited, Sapati International Schools Limited, Trillium Learning Centre Limited, Standout Institutes Limited, and Esli Perfect Security Printers Limited.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/119/2023, was instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

In addition, Ojerinde is facing a separate 18-count charge bordering on the alleged diversion of public funds during his tenure as Registrar of the National Examinations Council and as head of JAMB.

Obi says commencement of Ramadan and Lent season on the same day is “a rare spiritual convergence to cherish and revere”

That case is pending before Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the same court, with the next hearing scheduled for March 25.
