Court Acquits Ex-PDP Stalwart Raymond Dabo Of N450 Million Money Laundering Allegation

The Court of Appeal Jos Division has discharged and acquitted the Former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party , PDP,  Chief Raymond Dabo from a case of money laundering leveled against him by the Economic and financial crimes commission EFCC.

“It would be recalled that Chief Raymond was responsible for the disbursement of campaign funds of Former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections held in Nigeria.

The EFCC charged the PDP chieftain of over withdrawal of funds above the required amount in accordance with the CBN guidelines and the Federal High Court sitting in Jos Division find him guilty with funds,”.

The commission had in 2017 Slammed the Astute politician with a three-count charge before the federal high court Jos. Judiciary correspondents who have been following the proceedings revealed that the appeal court dismissed all count charges.

 In 2017 the EFCC filed a case of money laundering to the tune of N450 million against  Raymond Dabo at the federal high court in Jos.

The court tried the case and found him guilty of the two count charges dropping the third case.

The court gave him an option of jail term or pay a fine of one million naira which he immediately paid to secure his freedom.

 Dabo however appealed the judgement of the lower court at the court of appeal in Jos.

In a unanimous judgement delivered on Friday this week, the appellate court found him not guilty of any of the count charges and discharged and acquit him.

Dabo is also to be refunded the one million Naira he earlier paid at the federal high court.

Counsel of the appellant E O Oyadeji and SE Ekara of Solomon Umoh’s chambers in a reaction said the truth has prevailed against what they termed falsehood of the highest order.

The appellant himself Raymond Dabo speaks. Counsel to EFCC Abba Aliyu could not be reached for comments as his line was switched off.
