  • Junior Officers Decry Massive Exploitation from Their Representative

Junior officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC attached to the Special Task Force now called Operation Safe Heaven, OPSH, has decried exploitation from their head of representative at the STF office in Plateau.

As gathered by this medium, the Head of rank and file of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps attached to Special Task Force (STF) now called Operation Safe Heaven (OPSH) have subjected the junior colleagues to remit allowances for administrative service.

Narrating their ordeal before newsmen the officers told our correspondent in Jos that the way and manner they exploit them using head of operation gave them great concern.

They complained that: ” We cannot enjoy the hazard/ security allowances released to us by federal government to help manage ourselves and family members”.

The junior officers, who were attached to OPSH, also raised alarm of indiscriminate exploitation and unwarranted deduction of their weekly allowances meant for their feeding and upkeep while performing their legitimate duty.

As learnt by this medium some group who were recently redeployed by the officer in charge for not meeting up with the N10,000 demanded by the higher authority see the exercise as unbearable and uncalled for .

We also gathered that currently there is monthly remittance of N4, 000 as administrative charges to the state office which messages are sent to strictly adhere or comply.

” Prepared all your things rotation today to……….. You are to strictly comply,” endeavor to remit your returns to name withheld…….this Morning unfailingly ” text sent to junior officers   and many more.

However, our correspondent was told that the officer in charge has threatened to punish any officer who dare leak the message to media.

The officers Nigerian Security Civil Defense Corps Plateau state which is a branch of Special Task Force now Operation Safe Heaven saddle with internal protection of lives of citizens in a crisis states by the federal government have cried out for help.

The officers seek the intervention of government to end the indiscriminate deduction with the current delay in salary payment members are suffering.

They statement revealed that the alleged administrative charges were not extended to other security agencies, police and Nigerian Army.

We join to condemn this action in its totality the habit of some senior officers who uses this to build houses and change cars while they suffer untold hardship under the cold weather of Jos and even as some of their colleagues are killed in the line of duty.

Effort to speak with the NSCDC officer in charge at the headquarters of STF proved abortive as the alleged officer couldn’t be reach as his phone kept saying not available for now, also text messages sent to his phone were not replied.

Meanwhile, when this medium spoke with the Public Relations officer of the Plateau Command, she told this medium that Command is not aware of this issue and that there is channel of communication for aggrieved officers to forward or report their cases to the State Command, however she promised to make investigation on the issue at hand and after then respond to this newspaper.
