As part of celebrating the love, unity and progress amongst themselves as a social club,the leadership and members of “The Concerned Star Club of Nigeria” in Ogbuaku in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State,was on last Sunday,May 5th 2019 celebrated the club’s 17th years anniversary, launched their 2019/2020 Almanac,issued membership certificates to members and bestowed awards of honour to some respected members and other respected individuals for their various contribution to the club and the society.
More so,friends,well-wishers and some illustrious individuals from across Imo state especially residents around Oguta LGA and Mbaitoli LGA.
Speaking through his address,the President of Concerned Star Social Club of Nigeria,Ogbaku,Hon.Cyril Unamma Igwe,expressed delight and satisfaction for the successes recorded so far by the club since its establishnent and formation 17 years ago.
President Unumma while speaking recalled the origin,achievements and challenges that propelled the leadership of the club to organize the anniversary after May 5th 2002 as registered club by the Mbaitoli LGA.
The President further commended initial builders of the club as brains behind the origin,evaluation and development of the club amongst whom are:Mr.Amata MBA, Mr.Joseph Ekeh,Hon.John Isuzu,Mr.Sylvester Osigwe,Sir Kyrian Igwuike and Hon.Unamma Cyril Igwe,and the Founder of the Club,Mr.Rockey Agu,amongst others.
The President recalled that the club under his watch and in his business ideas and wisdom has attracted a Lock-up Shop for the interest of the club,even as he extolled the ‘Women of Club’ for their new uniform for the first time.
Hon.Unamma speaking on the challenges to club,said their greatest challenges is paucity of funds which have resulted in the delay to carry out community projects as developmental assignment,even as he called on the government and other well meaning individuals to come to the aid of the club financially,such that the club can meaningfully contribute to community development mostly the host community and beyond.
The Guest Lecturer,…….in his delivered lecture with the theme:”the role of social club to community development which is our core mandate”.
Some of the respected individuals who was honored with various awards-titles are:the LGA Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli,Hon.Dr. Bertram Mbah, Sir.Cajethan Ohiri,Hon.Gbenga Adeleji,Nze Igbo Iyke Dikeocha,and Hon.Dr.Pat Nna. Others are: Hon.Fidelis Emeana and the Chairman,Imo State Scholarship Board,Hon.Chief Ugoeze Ngozi Ojure,and among others.
Meanwhile,all the awardees have collectively commended the leadership of the club and the entire management of the club for honouring them,even as they all promised continuous commitment towards the development and unity of the society and the club.
