The Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Dr. Mathew Ishaya Audu has admonished Christian couples to always build their foundation of home on love not on materialism.
He made this known on Saturday during the wedding ceremony of Shitnaa Joseph Ari and Laetitia Kabasele held at St Monica Catholic church State Low Cost on Saturday 25th June 2022.
Audu disclosed that it is not good that should be alone; God deem it fit that, “I will make him a helper fit for him, so out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them “.
According to his message to the newly wedded couple, why marriages don’t last nowadays is due to love for worldly things, saying many women are single parents because they don’t respect the sanctity of marriage.
He says, this, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man, therefore a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife and they become one flesh.
However, in their declaration of consent bridegroom, Shitnaan Joseph Ari takes his friend Laetitia Kabasele to be his wife and promises to be true both in good times and bad, in sickness and in health.
She promises to be accurate and to love and honor him all the days of her life and they were joined as husband and wife with priesthood assurance that no men must divide them.
In her first reading of the liturgy of the word, Gen 2:24 shows that God created a female out of man to be a helper.
