The convener of Jos Town Ambassadors-,JTA, Comrade Salis Muhammad Abdulsalam has charged federal and state governments to revamp back skills acquisition and vocational training centers to engage the teeming youth on meaningful programs that can take them off the streets.
Speaking during the one-day awareness campaign for Muslims and Christian youth held in Jos North Local Government conference Hall, Abdulsalam cautioned against the use of youth in violence and unholy act.
He said, Jos-Town was known for its peaceful accommodative nature with all the tribes’ residents in the capital but since the returned of democracy we never knew peace.
Salis urged the politician whose stock in trade is to use other people’s children to torment trouble to henceforth stop doing so or else nemesis would catch up with them.
He advised the youth to as a matter of urgency not to allow themselves to be destroyed by greedy politicians whose children are outside the country acquiring knowledge while they themselves are been used as agents of destruction.
He disclosed that we most leave a better Plateau state where we live together as members of one family that were the reason why the state was named, “Home of peace and tourism, “
According to him, they came together to register it as an Organization of a group of friends and acquaintances from diverse backgrounds and religion with a history of 40-50years of friendship with Jos
He pointed out that, some of us are born here, others schooled here and some are indigenous and are tired of these dastardly attacks, destruction of lives and properties for 20 years now.
He added that nobody would wake up and said he or she want everybody to be either a Muslim or a Christian that won’t work, we must learn to tolerate each and allow everyone to worship their own religion.
Comrade Salis Muhammad expressed concern that Nigeria leaders are gradually losing focus on how to cater for the well-being of teaming graduates with the high rate of unemployment and overpopulation we must create job opportunities.
We must go back to our traditional ways of fighting poverty and unemployment, agriculture was the mainstay of Jos people so the state government must encourage youth in farming to engage them either of trading.
He explained further that other countries took visas to come and work here in Nigeria but this is another serious problem that the increase in poverty has been double.
We see where medical practitioners, Nurses and some professionals are leaving Nigeria in search of greener pastures.
