College Of Education Akwanga Owes Retirees N1.3 Billion Entitlement-Provost

The Provost, College of Education, Akwanga Reverend Jonathan Thani Wakili has hailed Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for his relentless effort towards the development of the College.

He gave the hint during an exclusive interview with Universal Reporters, he averred that the recent appointment of additional staff has closed the gap that exists in terms of manpower deficit.

The provost however maintained that the State Governor has broken the jinx of embargo on employment of staff, saying for the past 11 years, there is no employment of manpower if not the recent approval by Engineer Abdullahi Sule to employ 389 staff.

“One of the giant strides of Governor Sule includes employment of staff to close the gap in manpower”.

Reverend Thani in addition disclosed that the incumbent Governor has changed the narrative in all ramifications especially with the ongoing sinking of five boreholes in the College with the sole motive to addressing the acute shortage of water.

The provost explained that the provision of boreholes in the College will go a long way in addressing the acute and perennial shortage of drinking water, which he said is a cause of concern to students and the management of the College.

While commenting on the issue of allowances for SiWES students. Jonathan Thani Wakili explained that before students did not benefit from the allowances until he took over the mantle of leadership of the College.

According to him,” Students of College are not benefiting from SIWES allowances not until I assumed office and apply diplomacy and wisdom to be where we are today.

“As the Provost of the College, I don’t have access to the monies disbursed to student, I have no connection with SIWES monies meant for students, He added.

“Over twenty courses pass through full accreditation under the present reign and resource was released for that purposes “The headship of the institution open up”.

Reverend Jonathan Thani raises alarm over the sharp decrease in the number of students in the College, attributing the development to the downward review of tuition fees by the Kaduna State Government recently.
