Colleagues and friends of the Nigeria Police Force Education Officer, CP Rabi Umar, has celebrated over her recent promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police.

CP Rabi was the only female officer among nine officers recently promoted from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to CP by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Speaking at a reception in her honour, the weekend in Abuja, one of her senior colleagues, AIG Aishatu Ibrahim Baju, said: “We have come to celebrate with one of our own on her well-deserved promotion to the rank of CP.

“As the first female Force Education Officer, she has changed the narrative and proved us right that what a man can do a woman can do even better. There is nothing special about this promotion because she earned it. So, it is not a special promotion at all.

“Since her appointment as Force Education Officer everything about the the directorate has changed for the better, the IGP has been going to commission different projects all over the country.

“This is just the beginning of celebrations; we will keep celebrating her and other female officers who distinguish themselves.”

Similarly, one of her course mates, ACP Philomena Lawrence, said the Force Education Officer was a pacesetter for Course 1, 1988.

“She has been in the forefront and has been representing Course 1, 1988 very well. No one has been able to beat her exploits.

“She merited the promotion based on her exploits in the directorate of education. Men have been there but couldn’t do much,” ACP Philomena declared.

On her part, CP Rabi appreciated her colleagues and friends for the reception, even she expressed gratitude to the PSC and the IGP for finding her worthy of the elevation, noting that it would spur her to do more.
