Collapsed Building: Hon Maitala, Baba-Hassan Commiserates With Jos North Community

The  Member Representing Jos North /Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon Haruna Matala has commiserated with the families of the collapsed building in Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau State, where  no fewer than 11 persons met their Waterloo, while 2 who were injured are receiving treatment,  as 5 were rescued and 7 discharged without injuries.

In a press statement made available to our medium by his Director-General Maitala campaign organization,  Alh Mustapha Idris on Tuesday in Jos, Maitala expressed shock over the building collapse were many lost their beloved ones, saying this is an issue of concern to the State, as he facilitates with the citizens of Plateau state.

He also condemned the killing in Bassa LGA as unwarranted by calling on the people to shed their sword and imbibe the culture of tolerance.

Hon Haruna Maitala expressed sadness over the collapse of a three-story building in Jos, by calling on the engineering council of Nigeria to fish out those using substandard materials during the construction of a building.

The member said when the news was broke to him he immediately mobilized NEMA and fuel their vehicles for search and rescue which was done at the scene of the collapse of a three-storey building along butcher lane in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

Also Member Representing Jos North/North, at the Plateau state House of Assembly former Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Ibrahim Baba-Hassan said the state is mourning the deaths of those who were killed in yesterday 3 storey building that collapsed in the late hour of 4:30 pm after the rainfalls.

He described as unfortunate that lives will be lost, people injured and property lost while people were carrying out their legitimate businesses of the day.

Baba-Hassan urged the Plateau state government for quick intervention owning to the recent flood disaster-ravaged houses and farmland in Jos North.

According to him, “We received the news with great shock and pain discovering that people were trapped in the rubble as a result of the collapse, even though we are still mourning the sudden flooding that displaced families in the heavy downpour especially during the raining season which has threatened many families.

Baba-Hassan reiterated that the death toll recorded in the incident is over 11 as he said that it is a great loss to the state and he prayed God to grant the deceased souls eternal rest while wishing the injured quick recovery.

Baba-Hassan disclosed that upon receiving the sad report: “ I became confused and touch with the member representing Jos North North in the State House of Assembly Ibrahim Hassan who was on the ground and helping in coordinating the rescue efforts.

He commended the prompt response of good-spirited individuals who immediately started the rescue efforts before the arrival of other agencies that aided the rescue efforts.

Ibrahim Baba-Hassan saluted the Red cross, State Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders who were part of the rescue efforts at the site of the collapsed building. He prayed to God to grant the injured quick recovery, stating that efforts will be put to check and guard against a recurrence of such in any part of the state.
