Sir,

CJN and Nsima Ekere: Different strokes?

Greetings. Just last week, the world has turned her attention to Nigeria, as usual for the wrong reasons. The Presidency under your control( though most times you claim ignorance of some actions) decided that the CJN should be tried for failing to declare some of his assets. The end game of that plot, being the removal of the CJN, was visible to any discerning person. The Code of Conduct Bureau, whose chairman was indicted by the EFCC for fraud, became the available vehicle for use, but before they could move any considerable distance, countless legal roadblocks were placed, impeding the journey to the pre-determined ignoble destination. Tired of waiting for what was clearly going to be a long and detailed process, you illegally intervened by suspending the Chief Justice and swearing in Justice Umar Tanko immediately.

Your admirers have commended the swiftness of your response and concomitant action on the CJN’s matter, but we intend to draw your attention to other pending criminal allegations which has either been swept under the carpet or moving at snail speed.

Rotimi Amaechi

The Director General of your campaign, Rotimi Amaechi was accused of unconscionable misappropriation and humongous fraud, investigated by a judicial panel of enquiry, found guilty and recommended for prosecution. But till date, nothing has happened in that direction. You went in to nominate him as a minister in your administration and he’s still serving till date.

Adams Oshiomole

The National Chairman of your Party has been accused of massive fraud during his administration, evidenced primarily by the erection of a multi billion naira residential village akin to that of mobutu Sese Seko. Court rulings and security reports available to you, unmistakably links this chairman of yours to corruption.

Godswill Akpabio and Unoma Akpabio

This duo have been accused of crude accumulation of wealth by converting public resources to private use. Before joining your party, he was being investigated for outright fraud, misappropriation, Misapplication and corruption. His choice property littered over Asokoro and Maitama in Abuja; Ikoyi,Victoria Island, Ikeja and Lekki in Lagos; mansions in his village, a bunker mansion and other luxury homes in uyo. These are in addition to the property in Dubai, London and America. His wife, Unoma whom we learnt was the supervising Commissioner of the Ministries of Environment and Women Affairs, owns schools in Lagos and Akwa Ibom State. Before joining your party, the EFCC was on her trail and in one of those times, marked the school in uyo as a property of interest. But since both jumped ship and crossed over to you, they have found absolute peace and freedoms from prosecution.

Abba Kyari

Your chief of staff and unarguably your closest ally, was fingered in the MTN fraud but nothing has been done about it. He has not been invited for questioning, neither has he been prosecuted in any court.

Abdulrasheed Maina

This pension fraud chieftain was not only smuggled into the country by too government officials, but was to be reinstated into the civil service and further promoted. Haba, Baba!

We know that the standard answer of your administration is “The President is not aware”. Assuming but not conceding that you are not aware of the above stated cases, let me bring this particular case which you handled on the same day as that of the CJN. The case of the tape of the NDDC treasury by Mr. Nsima Ekere.

As the Managing Director of NDDC for more than two years, he has been accused of large scale fraud, receiving bribes, contract splitting, breach of procurement laws, cronyism and embezzlement. Contractors and community representatives have lodged several petitions and complaints to the existing investigative agencies in the country, but absolutely nothing was done. Available information bears testimony to the fact that many financial infractions committed by the Nsima Ekere led board were brought to your attention and you acted by dissolving the board. As nice as this action of yours is, it falls far below acceptable standards, in fact that action is akin to a pat on the back. There was no directive for his prosecution or any other punitive measure. In fact, details of the infractions have been tucked away from public glare in a bid to shield him.

Mr. President, how moral or rational is it for you to take two decisions on the same subject matter, yet deal differently with persons involved. The CJN is not accused of illegally enriching himself, but of failing to declare his assets correctly. And in your judgment, you ignore the constitution of our country and suspend the gentleman. But, another person is accused of corruptly enriching himself and mismanagement of public funds and all you do is to dissolve the board without much more. People have alleged that, your stand on the NDDC issue is because the principal suspect, Nsima Ekere is a Governorship Candidate of your party in Akwa Ibom State(a state your party will do anything to capture). The idea is not to wash his dirty linen in public, so as not to negatively affect his political chances.

The question is, why do you apply different measures to different people in the same circumstance? Different strokes for different folks, right? The answer to this question is provided by the National chairman of your party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, when he confessed that as soon as criminals or those chased by security and prosecutorial agencies join the APC, their sins are forgiven  and they are free. As odd and annoying as that statement may sound, we are live witnesses to its veracity under your administration.

Our prayers

We pray that you use your good offices to cause the following to occur :

1. The suspension of the Chairman of the CCT, Justice Danladi and his subsequent prosecution by the EFCC

2.Prosecution of Adams Oshiomhole, Godswill Akpabio, Unoma Akpabio, Rotimi Amaechi, Abba Kyari and all those accused of different financial crimes.

3. A direction to the EFCC to investigate and prosecute Mr. Nsima Ekere and other members of his board for numerous financial crimes, which they have been accused of with astonishing evidence.

We humbly appeal that in these remaining days of your administration, you cause fairness, equity and justice to serve as the basis of government actions. There is no need for the exhibition of bare faced and unpretentious desperation. The best you can at a time like this is to ensure a transparent electoral process, concede defeat and hand over to the winner on May 29,2019. We hope that you are learning from the Venezuela situation, where global powers have indicated their disapproval of warped electoral processes.

We wish you well in these remaining days of your administration.
