… 99 Nab For Violating Sanitation Law

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Honorable Yakubu Kwato Bohr has called on public members to always keep their environment clean to guard against the outbreak of all diseases.
He urged residents to cooperate with the Government to ensure that the State is clean.
If the environment is kept clean, it will guard against a possible outbreak of any disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,’’ the commissioner added.
Kwanta explained that the exercise had been strengthened to achieve the essence for its reintroduction by Gov. Abdullahi Sule in 2019.
He applauded the residents, especially shop owners, for clearing drains around their environments and shops as well as motorists for keeping off the roads during the exercise.
Mrs Beauty Ebu, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule, described the level of compliance as impressive and attributed it to support from security agencies, traditional rulers, media as well as inspection teams from the ministry.
Abubakar Mohammed, The Chief Prosecutor of the Ministry on his part, while briefing Journalists avowed that 99 persons were nabbed across four Local Government Areas for alleged violation of environmental sanitation laws.
He said that 28 persons were arrested in Lafia, 15 in Doma, 30 in Akwanga, and 26 in Karu respectively.
“While we are waiting for updates from the 9 Local Governments” He added.
He said that they were caught transacting their businesses and driving around during the hours set aside for sanitation exercises.
