Christian Youth Leaders Condemns ‘Horrific Killings’  In Nigeria

The recent “horrific killings” of dozens of innocent citizens recently across communities in the southern and northern parts of Nigeria have been condemned in the strongest terms by the former National President, Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) Engr. Daniel Kadzai.

 

An unidentified armed group killed dozens of innocent Nigerians mostly women and children of the Fulanis in southern Nigeria, according to a statement issued by Engr. Daniel Kadzai, currently the National Youth Leader, Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC) during Sunday church service in Abuja, Nigeria. He stated that no person or group persons have the right to chase out other citizens who are doing their legitimate businesses irrespective of their ethnic afflictions.

 

“We are deeply saddened and outraged that civilians, including children and women, are among the casualties,” Engr. Kadzai said.

 

The Youth Leader also urged the Federal Government “to spare no effort in bringing the perpetrators to justice” it would be recalled that armed groups carried out coordinated attacks few days back. The surge in violence across Nigeria is having “a devastating impact” on our survival as a nation. No criminal elements should be spared!

Kadzai, said mounting insecurity has exacerbated humanitarian needs across Nigeria.

Reaching those in need is increasingly challenging because the government and philanthropist can no longer cope with millions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) “Violence is disrupting livelihoods and access to social services including education and health care.

 

Insecurity is worsening chronic vulnerabilities. Women and children are bearing the brunt of the violence, so disheartening, some people are working round the clock to pull down Nigeria but in Nigeria, we serve a living God irrespective of religious diversity.

 

Consequently, the situation is further compounded by the impacts of inciting statements coming from some unpatriotic religious leaders who ought to be peacemakers, equally many stakeholders are hypocritical hence fail to partner with the federal government to provide children and families with essential protection, health care, and education services.

Kadzai stressed that international support and engagement is urgently needed to stop the violence so that the agencies can reach those in need.

Kadzai also condemned the killings of security agencies in the South-East, as well as the burning of public buildings such as INEC offices, courts, and Police Stations. He called on those unknown gunmen that do such to desist.
