The election of Dean in Nasarawa State Polytechnic has come and gone but the dust raised is yet to settle as the Chairman Governing Council of the School, Emir of Karshi has insisted that the right thing must be done.
This reaction by the Paramount ruler, Muhammed Sani Bako !!! followed the insistence of the Acting Rector, Augustine Ali Gabu who said Deans of Schools are not qualified to be members of the Academic Board of the State Polytechnic.
Gabu it was learnt averred that the law establishing the Nasarawa State Polytechnic did not recognized Dean’s as members of the Academic Board,a system which was adopted by the Polytechnic since inception.
Feelers from the school maintained that Ali Gabu want to use his position to humiliate a staff who was once a Desk Officer of Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
Investigation has shown that the meeting ended in a deadlock as the Governing Council remained the alfa and the Omega in taking decision even if it did not favored the Institution.
A competent source said the Monarch maintained that the School must key into the new Polytechnic law signed by President Muhammadu Buhari recently.
It was revealed that the new Polytechnic law recognized Deans, Heads of Departments as members of the Academic Board.
But an insider from the Polytechnic stated that the decision of the Chairman did not go down well with Ali Gabu who was not comfortable with the emergence of his antagonist as a Dean.
The Acting Registrar of the Polytechnic, Muktar Wakeel could not be reached for comment over the development.
