Buhari Vows To Return Peace, If Elected In 2015 By Yakubu Busari, Jos

The presidential candidate of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, ( rtd), has reaffirmed that if voted into power come 2015 general elections,  security challenges facing the country would be at the top on his agenda.

Buhari said without peace and stability in a nation, no meaningful activity or development would be achieved, adding that the activities of Boko Haram and other criminal activities plaguing Nigeria would not pave way for sound education until it dealt with.

The APC candidate stated this while being interviewed by journalists on the percentage to be allocated to the education in the country if elected.

He noted that the militant Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, has destroyed the education system of those areas and as such you cannot as a new president start with education as  efforts to enhance on the education may be distracted , saying that with strong security, educational system could be developed to high standard.

He however added that, “if peace and harmony is fully restored, whatever the education sector requires, his administration is ready to allocate to it, suggesting that if elected, he would follow the footstep of Awolowo and Sardauna who during their time gave significant support of 55 and 45 percent to education in their respective regions.
