Breeze FM, Nasarawa Govt Legal Tussle: High Court Fixes 2nd February For Out Of Court Settlement

Justice James Abundha, the Presiding Judge of High Court Four sitting in Lafia has adjourned the suit by the only private radio station in the state capital over the demolition of Breeze FM by Nasarawa State Government to 2, February for out of court settlement.

The Presiding Judge adjourned the matter following an objection by the Counsel to the state government, Shehu Usman, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General appealing for adjournment.

The Counsels to the state government seek for adjournment to enable the settlement committee get approval from Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

The case was adjourned by the presiding Judge who appealed to both the parties for report of settlement and hearing.

The Attorney-General who was represented by Audu Aloko,averred that the adjournment would enable the committee meet with the state governor and get his approval on the terms already agreed.

“The settlement committee have meet and agreed on some terms to put to rest the lingering case, but the committee are yet to meet the governor and get his approval.

So I therefore appealed for a short adjournment to enable us get the approval and report to the court.

Counsel to Breeze FM,Ocha Ulegede said he is not opposing the motion for adjournment, adding that, ‘if at the next adjourn date, They were still unable to secure the approval of the governor; we would go ahead with the matter.

He therefore urged the government to do something possible to put to rest this matter since they wanted the settlement.
