Breaking: State High Court Nullifies Emergence Of Barr Zulfa Rimven As APC Candidate, Orders For Withdrawal Of Certificate Of Return

A State High Court sitting in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday has nullified the emergence of Barr. Rimven  Bitrus Zulfa as the candidate and chairmanship candidate of Langtang North for lack of proper All Progressive Congress,APC, guidelines.

Hon Nankar Shagaya filed a suit challenging the election of Hon Zulfa Rimven in court seeking the order of the court to nullify the primary election which he described that it lacks due process.

The judge delivered, that the emergence of Barr. Bitrus Zulfa Rimven as its candidate for Langtang North Local Government in the purported October 09, 2021, Local Government Elections in the state is nullified.

The  Honourable Justice Sashet in his judgment also Ordered the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Rimven as the winner of the said election.

Details of the case indicate that all the Preliminary Objections filed by the Defendants were struck out

On the main suit, the Claimant’s 4 issues for determination were all resolved in favor of the Claimant against the Defendants.

With the following orders;

1. That the nomination of the 2 defendants by the 1 defendant to the 6 defendants is a nullity.
2. The election, conducted on 9/10/2021 is a nullity.
3. The 6th defendant is ordered to withdraw the certificate of return issued to the 2nd defendant.
4. The 2nd defendant (Zulfa Rimven) should stop parading themselves as Chairman of Langtang North LGA.
