Breaking: Plateau Discharges 10 COVID-19 Patients Who Tested Negative

Plateau State Government on Friday May 15, 2020 said it has discharged 10 coronavirus patients.

The state Commissioner for Health Dr Nimkong Lar disclosed while addressing newsmen alongside the Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof Danladi Atu, and Commissioner for Information, Dan Manjang .

 

He said they were discharged after they tested negative for COVID-19 .

 

He said so far Plateau has only 11 active cases of COVID-19 in the state and they are all responding to treatment.

 

“Plateau recorded only one case of COVID-19 yesterday as against the five cases announced by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, as four of the results were repeated by the agency.”

 

He said that the state has 96 pending results it is awaiting with 255 persons in various isolation centers and that so far there is no COVID-19 recorded death in the state.

 

Governor Simon Lalong is asking citizens of the State not to panic, but to continue to strictly adhere to regulations put in place to contain the disease and curtail community spread.

 

Secretary to the Government of the State, SGS, Prof Danladi Atu said that the State Governor Simon Lalong is worried by the continuous violation of the closure of all boundary routes into Plateau State which has been identified as a major source of importing COVID-19 into the State.

 

He said recently Governor Simon Lalong visited some boundary entry points to assess the situation and has directed that all his commissioners to work to ensure that that the order is not violated.

Atu said so far over 46 motorcycles ridders who aided travelers into the state have been arrested and prosecuted.

 

He said several other persons have also been arrested with fake passes.

 

The SGS urged citizens of the state to continue to comply with the guidelines for restriction of movement, use of face marks, adhering to social distancing and observing hygiene and sanitation requirements.

 

“We are now going into aggressive enforcement,” the Commissioner for information and Communication Dan Manjang said, adding that security operatives have been ordered to arrest those who do not wear facemask.

 

The State Government also used the briefing to remind it’s citizen that the wearing of masks is mandatory.

 

He called on people of the state not to disregard government orders with regards to Corona Virus (COVID-19), notable is that of the Presidential order which imposed curfew on the country lasting between 8.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m each day.

 

“It is in this light therefore, that the Plateau State Government issues this reminder that the curfew so imposed is still in force.
