Breaking News: University Of Abuja Students Block Airport Road, Protesting Against The Death Of A Student

University of Abuja Students Monday morning blocked the Abuja- Gwagwalads highway, which is the main superhighway to the Federal Capital Territory. The irate students are protesting killing of one their colleagues.

According to the students, a careless driver on Sunday killed a female Student even as he also hit four other students who got seriously injured.

The protesting students as early as 6am this morning blocked the exit way and entrance way of the Highway, a situation which has caused traffic gridlocks on the busy Abuja expressway.

According to an eyewitness, they students has refused to allow any vehicle to pass through the highway, however they have allowed passengers to debark from vehicles and also offer them freeway to go about their normal duties.

According to the eyewitness, the remonstrating students have stopped movement of all vehicles in which they have taken over 500 meters of the highway from both sides up to the arrival of the main campus of the University.

The eyewitness told this medium that the students are also angry with the school management, as they claimed that the school clinic at the main campus has refused to commence treatment on the dead student when she was rushed to the school clinic on the premise that she must see the girl’s Identity Card before any treatment will commence.

They also stated that there are no qualify medical personnel manning the school clinic, even complained that the school clinic is far from the main gate.

More so, the students stated that there are no adequate security personnel manning the gate, while they said the hostel is not adequately secured.

They also complained that street light inside the main campus is not functioning as none of the street lights are working, they students said that they street lights has now turned to objects of decoration.
